General remarks

We value your data, in particular your personal data. This privacy notice (30.12.2020) tries to explain rights and duties, technical solutions and your options with regards to privacy protection as our website visitor. We are by no means experts in data and privacy. However, we strive to give you a good overview about the topic.

The legal base are the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Austrian data protection law, Datenschutzgesetz (DSG).

Your rights according to GDPR

The GDPR gives you a number of rights to protect your data. Some important ones are given below.

  • Right to erasure (‘right to be forgotten’) (Article 17 GDPR)

  • Right to data portability (Article 20 GDPR)
  • Right to object (Article 21 GDPR)
  • Automated individual decision-making, including profiling (Article 22 GDPR)

If you think that your data protection rights are being violated you the right to file a complaint with a data protection authority, for example the Austrian Data Protection Authority located in Vienna (currently Barichgasse 40-42, 1030 Vienna). Most of the problems may be subject to mutual resolution in direct contact. You can find our contact details in the imprint.

Automatic data logging and saving (Cookies and log-files)

We all know the notes about data usage and saving when visiting websites on the internet. And this website is no exception. Some of this information is essential for website operation other is useful to optimize customer experience and save your preferences for future visits. Technical means are,among others, cookies and log files.

Certain information may be saved on your computer with cookies, Cookies are small text files that do not any harm. You may select the behavior with cookies in your browser preferences (in particular you may delete saved cookies). This may influence site performance. Cookies can be divided into three categories: essential cookies, functional cookies for performance optimization and thirdly, cookies that optimize user experience.

Other data are saved automatically upon website visit through our IT systems. These are technical parameters like browser, operating system, time of visit among others. This data is logged automatically upon website visit.

We have contracted a third party to host our website (currently Easyname GmbH). They are performing a hosting in accordance to data preotection laws and ensure a smooth operation.

Article 6 I f GDPR (Lawfulness of processing) builds our legitimate interest to process such data to ensure a failure-free website.

Personal Data

Certain functions of this website require the input and electronic processing of your personal data (Name, E-Mail address, website, phone number, etc.), for example with comments, contact forms, subscription to webinars or newsletters. It is required to process such data to deliver the service to you and ensure functionality. We do not transfer your data without your consent. However, such data may be subject to inspection by public authorities, courts or similar legal orders.

Article 6 I a GDPR gives us the right to process such data in order to fulfill the requested service (webinar registrastion, newsletter sending, publication of comments, preparation of contracts and similar things.). You may dissent (E-Mail preferred) to processing of such data. This may lead to removal of comments or a discontinuation of our services for you.

Comments in blogs

We do not save the IP address if you leave a comment. Disclosure of your name is mandatory but desirable for the sake of a good discussion culture. E-Mail address and website are mandatory as well. The latter one gives you the possibility to create back links to your website which may improve search engine ranking. We reserve the right to delete comments without notice (We would however try to contact you before deletion.). This is in particular relevant for comments that violate law, insult others or are inappropriate in any way. To protect us from spam we use the plugin Antispam Bee. It ensures spam protection in accordance with GDPR. We reserve the right to activate filtering of countries and languages. in this case (currently inactive) country domain and anonymized IP addresses are sent to other web servers in Europe for comparison.

SSL/TLS encryption an https

Confidential data should always be transmitted with SSL or TLS encryption, respectively. It’s already common practice that websites use this kind of security mechanisms. You recognize them at the little lock symbol in your browser and the change from “http” to “https” in the URL. This kind of encryption protects against access to transmitted data by third-parties.

Google Analytics

We use the service Google Analytics to analyze visitor behavior. This service is provided by Google LLC (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). It allows us to otpimize our content. De-Activation of Google Analytics

You may de-activate data processing by Google Analytics with installing a brwoser add-on. You may download and install it here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en

Google reCAPTCHA

Forms are regular targets for cyber attacks, like spam. Captcha technologies provide protection against such spam and bot attacks. We use the service reCaptcha, provided by Google LLC (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) in order to human or machine input into one of our forms. Google checks this based on a couple of different parameters such as IP address, website visited, data and duration of visit, browser and operating system, google account if you are logged in, mouse movements on reCaptcha areas and specific tests to recognize items in pictures. Our legitimate interest is to protect our website and forms against any form of misuse and attacks based on Article 6 I f GDPR. Shariff Wrapper Plugin

This plugin allows the use of social media without risking to lose your privacy protection. it has been developed by c’t (a German computer journal) and replaces the default share buttons with its own ones. Normally, data are transmitted to social networks even if you don’t klick on such share buttons. You even don’t need to have an own account in this social network. Shariff ensures that only if you really klick on a share button there will be a direct conenction to this social media platform. This enhances privacy protection. WordFence Security Plugin

Websites may be target for various kinds of cyber attacks including automated attacks. We have a legitimate interest according to Article 6 I f GDPR to protect against such attacks. WordFence implements a firewall and other technical protection measures to defend such attacks.
